Announcement of the TREAT-NMD training course “Standards of care in the management of people with DMD”

TREAT-NMD is organizing its fifth on-site training course, which will be held in Bucharest, Romania on March 18, 2011. We would like to invite you to join for this training opportunity.

TREAT-NMD is working with leading specialists worldwide to create international consensus on care and management for patients suffering from neuromuscular diseases. TREAT-NMD has a team dedicated to working on this issue and the TREAT-NMD website hosts user-friendly versions of a range of documents relating to patient care. For further information please visit

The goal of the present course is to raise awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy among Central-Eastern-European healthcare professionals and the research community, and distribute new information on the latest developments in therapy and standards of care of this disorder. The training lectures will be given by leading professionals of this field, who are members of the TREAT-NMD consortium or work as specialists on patient’s care and clinical trials. The course will also offer the opportunity to share the local experience from Romania and neigbouring countries with TREAT-NMD colleagues.

The course is organised by Professors Thomas Sejersen (Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden) and Dana Craiu (Alexandru Obregia Hospital, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine, Bucharest, Romania) with the support of the European Neuromuscular Centre (ENMC), Parent Project Romania and Romanian Foundation for Neurology and Epileptology, RONEP.

The number of participants is limited to 40-50. Candidates should fill in the Registration Form for the course and send it together with a brief CV in English to Mrs. Katelijne Senden at by February 27, 2011. Location: The TREAT-NMD training course will be hosted at the Pediatric Neurology Clinic, Al Obregia Hospital, Bucharest, Romania.


Costs: The course is free of charge. The coffee breaks and the lunch buffet on March 18, 2011 will be free. Participants will have to provide for their travel and accommodation expenses.


Accomodation: A number of rooms are available at the Al Obregia Hospital. These rooms are offered for free by the hospital.
